About us
Founded in 1985, the Mini Owners Club of WA began as a small group of passionate enthusiasts united by their admiration for one of the world’s most brilliant and versatile little cars. From those humble beginnings, we’ve grown into a thriving community dedicated to preserving the legacy — and sharing the joy — of these iconic vehicles.
Over the decades, we’ve brought together people from all walks of life who share a common love for the Mini. Today, our club boasts over 80 members, collectively caring for around 200 Minis. Among them you’ll find everything from the modest Morris 850, racy Cooper S’s, rugged Mokes, to the last of the classic Rover Coopers, right through to the newer BMW Minis — proud successors that keep the Mini spirit alive on modern roads.
Throughout the year, we host a wide range of events and runs that celebrate the Mini lifestyle and the camaraderie that comes with it. Whether it’s a leisurely breakfast cruise, a meander through the Perth Hills, or gathering at car shows, there’s always something on the calendar — and plenty of opportunities to share stories, swap tips, and enjoy each other’s company.
We’re proud members of the Council of Motoring Clubs of WA, giving us a voice in state-based motoring matters that affect all classic car owners. As part of the Mini Car Club of NSW, we’re also connected to a broader community of Mini enthusiasts across Australia.
For our members with classic Minis, we advocate for and help administer concessional vehicle licensing, ensuring these treasured cars continue to grace our roads while preserving their historical value for future generations.

We’re proud to be as active as we can be in the Western Australian car scene, regularly supporting local events, displays, and anything that celebrates our rich motoring history. We love working closely with other car clubs and often team up for joint runs and gatherings, sharing the roads and good times together.
Our club is a member of the Council of Motoring Clubs of WA, giving us a voice in important state-based motoring matters that affect all classic car owners. We’re also proud supporters of the Motor Museum of WA, helping preserve Western Australia’s motoring heritage for generations to come.
And through our connection with the Mini Car Club of NSW, we’re linked to a wider network of Mini enthusiasts across Australia, expanding our community spirit far beyond state lines.

Understanding Concessional Licensing
Concessional Vehicle Licensing for Mini Owners
In Western Australia, the concessional registration of eligible Historic Vehicles is subject to arrangements negotiated between the Department of Transport and the Council of Motoring Clubs of WA. As an eligible member of the CMC, the VCC is able to make concessional registration Code 404 available to its members. We offer access to Concessional vehicle licensing offers a fantastic opportunity for Mini owners to enjoy reduced registration fees. This special licensing is available for vehicles that are over 25 years old and are maintained in their original condition.
To apply for concessional licensing, owners must ensure their Mini meets the eligibility criteria and is part of an approved car club, such as the Mini Owners Club of WA. This process not only helps preserve the vehicle’s heritage but also supports community engagement through club events and activities.
